Heidi Montag Jokes About Plastic Surgery Debt
By Alison Rosen

Reality TV star Heidi Montag has been the source of much unintentional comedy over the years, but now "The Hills" doyenne is getting in on the joke in a new public service announcement for the comedy site Funny or Die.
Montag, who's undergone so many procedures that her doctor reportedly refuses to grant her wish for more, speaks about the horrors of having to pay for plastic surgery with a credit card.
"If you're a reality TV star, chances are good that one day you'll have plastic surgery [and] that you'll have to pay for that surgery with credit cards because you spent all your 'I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here' money on expensive purses, tiny dogs, and expensive healing bracelets for your husband," she says in the video, walking past purses, a dog, and real-life husband and "Hills" costar Spencer Pratt, who recently underwent surgery of his own.
She explains that hidden fees and interest rates can turn an $11,000 new jawline into $50,000 of debt. "Being in debt for elective surgery is bad enough, but when I think about the thousands of Americans whose only method for paying for food is credits cards, it's enough to make me cry without moving my face."
Montag goes on, in earnest, to advocate for the creation of a consumer agency to "stop banks and credit cards companies from being such sleazy jerks!" That phone number that flashes onscreen leads to an Americans for Financial Reform hotline.
The exclusive video, directed by Ron Howard and Funny or Die's Jake and written by Seth Morris, has fun at Montag's expense. During one scene, Montag asks the cameraman (offscreen) if she's smiling, because she can't tell. ("Uh, kind of" is the response.)
Montag first underwent the knife in 2007, getting a nose job and breast augmentation, and returned in late 2009 for 10 more procedures, including another breast augmentation and rhinoplasty, chin reduction, and liposuction. She claims having her ears pinned back was the most painful part.
Here's hoping she doesn't continue to pursue an elusive ideal, though she's claimed she's "beyond obsessed."
