My DNA Antiquity - Because We Remember

November 25, 2009, Beverly Hills, CA ~ Because we remember the Stars, My DNA Fragrance launched its test market this month for the “Antiquity” Fragrance Collection, which will be available in stores in 2010. “Antiquity” is a collection of unique one-of-kind colognes engineered from the DNA of Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Joan Crawford, Katherine Hepburn and Albert Einstein and many other celebs.

In 2007, the “My DNA Exclusive” fragrance line began giving customers the opportunity to bottle their DNA in an individual-specific composition of perfumes and colognes. Carlton Enoch, the company's CEO first envisioned the concept of a DNA-based fragrance in the 1990s, but the only recent affordability of DNA testing and lower rates of skepticism concerning DNA in general has launched this concept into a full-scale trend frenzy.

Enoch penned a deal with John Reznikoff to extract DNA from his private collection of famous hair follicles for the creation of the “Antiquity” collection. Reznikoff has been featured on CNN and the Wall Street Journal for having the largest authenticated hair collection of famous people in the world.

Per Alan Boyle, MSNBCs Cosmic Log, “The venture does use the celebrities' DNA code, after a fashion, and it does translate that code into a customized scent recipe - so there's certainly no false advertising. The DNA that's used has absolutely no bearing on what a person smells like, and the DNA itself is not featured in the recipe.”
